Choosing a Music Teacher

March 12, 2018

A music teacher is more than an accomplished musician. The right teacher for you is one that is experienced in inspiring and nurturing students of any age.  Music is fun.  It does however require a certain discipline. The right teacher should provide a balance and instill a lifelong love of music.

When seeking a music teacher, arrange an interview or meeting to discuss your expectations and examine if both teacher and pupil are perfectly matched.
Music teachers should be willing and eager to explain their techniques and approach.

  • It may be important for you to learn what professional and educational experience they have?

  • How do they participate in ongoing professional development?

  • How do they evaluate student progress?

  • What kinds of music is taught?

  • Do they offer group lessons?

  • Do they travel?

  • How much daily practice time is required?
